Solutions For Safer Halloween
Halloween is upon us and the food giants think we are foolish. Don’t be tricked! Become a savvy shopper and learn what to look for. These products are laced with food dyes, GMOs, preservatives, refined white sugars, vegetable oils/trans fats, chemicals and non-human food substances and they are linked to so many diseases, it should be criminal. The FDA is asleep at the wheel, so don’t expect change anytime soon. Consumers must become aware and take action by voting for safer ingredients with each purchase of something better. Swap out the those Skittles, Reese’s, Snickers, Butterfinger and Starburst for safer alternatives.
What can you do to make it a safer and happier Halloween for the kids?

Try a few treat and non-treat replacements to the same ol' toxic candy offenders. We like the Wholesome brand Surf Sweets Organic Gummy packs, Wholesome brand Ghost and Skull Lollipops and Justin’s Organic Peanut Butter Cup Minis individually wrapped. Many of these treats and more can be found at Thrive Market.
How many ways do parents have to employ to get rid of all the excess candy? Donations, secretly dumping it in the garbage, stashing it away until they forget? I’m not saying kids shouldn’t get treats and I’m not stripping the fun out, but isn’t there fun in getting something other than the bulk Costco bag? How about something unique that is either fun or yummy with less garbage? There’s no surprise that there are increasing numbers of kids suffering from allergies to common toxic ingredients found in food and Halloween candy.
If you haven’t heard of the campaign to create awareness of common food allergies, you need to check out Teal Pumpkin Project. Keep an eye out for a glowing teal bracelet, teal trick or pumpkin or teal pumpkin shirts, yard stakes, etc. With this knowledge, you can help foster a safe halloween for every child and help prevent illness and protect these kids from a reaction.
Check out these alternatives that will do less harm by avoiding chemicals, refined sugars and many of the most common allergens and the harmful effects to children's little bodies.
